Google as a retailer

Last year I predicted 2011 would be the year where Google made the transition from being a search/advertising company towards a more retail centered business model. After opening webstores and even a fysical stores it now seems as if they have found a revenue stream for youtube (about time they did).

Through a feature called the Merch Store, YouTube partners will be able to sell artist merchandise, digital downloads, concert tickets and other experiences to fans and visitors.
